Stormy Skies and Pumpkin Patrol: A Wild Day at Otto’s Pumpkin Patch
Yesterday brought more than just clouds to Otto’s Pumpkin Patch — it brought one wild wind storm that we won’t soon forget! Around mid-afternoon, the skies turned dark and gusts came howling through the fields. We watched in disbelief as a large old tree near the back edge of the property gave in to the storm, crashing down on a set of electrical wires with a deafening crack.
Bed Number Two remains safe…
Thankfully, no one was hurt — but the power went out instantly, and the area was left buzzing (and not in the good harvest-festival kind of way). We quickly called PECO, and their team has assured us they’ll be on site as soon as possible to repair the damage. We’re grateful for their work, especially during unpredictable weather like this.
While the humans scrambled to check for damages and keep things secure, our beloved mascot and four-legged guardian, Otto, the German Wirehaired Pointer, took up his post like a seasoned pro. Tail high, ears perked, and eyes sharp, Otto made his rounds through the patch, making sure every single pumpkin plant remained safe and sound. His diligent patrol kept the deer at bay and the mood surprisingly light — even with the ruckus of branches snapping and the hum of distant generators.
Despite the chaos, we’re counting our blessings. No one was injured, the pumpkins are unharmed, and as it turns out, we may now have a healthy supply of firewood for the upcoming Fall season. There’s always a silver lining — especially when you’ve got a trusty pup by your side and a community that looks out for each other.
We’ll keep everyone updated on power restoration and any changes to patch hours. In the meantime, Otto will continue his rounds — pumpkin security never sleeps!
Stay safe,
The Otto’s Pumpkin Patch Team
